Proof that I LOVE my customers....

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I flat out refuse to drive in snow. It petrifies me!! Even rain is enough to de-rail my plans. As soon as they mention snow on the weather - I'm locking the doors and windows and counting how many cans of non-perishables we have in the pantry.

So this morning, I woke up to the white stuff EVERYWHERE! I was in trouble because I had packages that absolutely HAD to go out today. I decided to pull on my big girl panties and do what I had to do. Even though the roads were treacherous and I was shaking like a leaf the entire time, I drove to the post office and made it back home in one piece. I saw cars spinning out and stuck cars, but I managed to keep it moving in one direction (OK so I have 4 wheel drive but so what?) I'm so proud of myself!!

I even took a picture of my tire tracks in the driveway as proof that I DID IT!!!

Happy Valentines what's for dinner?

I don't know if I mentioned before, but since discovering Etsy I've forgotten how to cook. Husband has been doing all the cooking because I'm just soooo rushed off my feet with my little soap shop - YEAH RIGHT!

Anywho, we came up with a little compromise to give him a break. I would cook dinner twice per week. I had my choice of days and settled on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bear in mind I just made this decision on Sunday gone, no thought whatsoever about V-Day being on Thursday. So guess which Dumbo get's stuck with trying to come up with a spectacular dinner tonight? Yep - MOI!!!

While rushed off my feet in Etsy chat room last night complaining about my domestic plight, one of my dearest chat room friends who happens to be a great cook Artistic Detour quickly emailed me (in his words) a simple delicious meal to cook tonight. It looked easy enough so I decided to try it. It's steak with creamy gorgonzola sauce, roasted baby red potatoes and steamed asparagus.

The potatoes are roasting and the steak is simmering in it's creamy cheesy sauce. I'll let you all know how everything turned out tomorrow :)

What's my Purpose?

I don't know how many of you are Oprah fans - I'm not particularly, but I managed to catch an episode of her show a couple of weeks ago. On the show she was talking about the laws of attraction which is what caught my attention as I am a firm believer in the teachings of "The Secret". On this same show she discussed a book called "A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purposes". Of course my interest was peaked since I have used the Laws of Attraction in several ways with much success since discovering it last summer.

So Oprah will be holding a free 10 week on-line course that provides practical teachings for waking up to a new, enlightened mind-set. Supposedly I will be transformed. Hey - I'm game. I quite fancy the idea of a New Me!

If you're interested - grab a copy of the book and get to reading. Classes start March 3 so hurry!

I still can't believe I made front page on Etsy last night. I've been wanting to make the front page ever since I joined and low and behold, there I was sitting right in the middle in all my glory!

Words can't describe how happy and excited I felt at that moment.

And to think I almost missed it. I was just getting ready to go to bed and figured I'd check Etsy one more time before retiring. There was a convo from a fellow soapmaker.

All it said was "CONGRATS ON FRONT PAGE" . Took me a while to understand the message but when it clicked, I was literally shaking while I fumbled my way over to the Etsy home page to see if this was indeed true and that I could now join the ranks of Etsy Front Pagers.
Yes it was true !!

Is it Summer Yet?

Can you tell I'm done with winter already?

This weekend I got it in my head that I wanted to make something summery. Not only summery looking but in scent too. I knew how I wanted it to look but just needed a scent to go with it. So I pulled out my fragrance oils and started sniffing them all. Disappointed that I didn't have anything to work with, I decided to create my own scent (not my forte by the way). I ended up with this concoction: Mango, pineapples, bananas, berries, coconut and almond.

Even husband commented on how good it smelled and nothing impresses him!

I've been calling this one Caribbean Queen temporarily. Any thoughts on a name for it? Think tropical, fruity, warm, sunny.........
